The iPad: Look out for it!

Apple has launched its latest mystery gadget which the whole world has been waiting for. For months  there has been speculation as to what this gadget could have been. People have been talking about it all over as Apple officials kept a stiff upper lip on this one. Finally amidst much fanfare the iPad was launched by Steve Jobs this January, immediately sparking off discussions as to all the pros and the cons about the gadget.

The iPad is a tablet computer and was unveiled to the world at large on the 27th of January this year. This is similar to the iPhone which was called the God phone at one point and also the iPod touch. The iPad also has the same operating system like the other gadgets in the I family. The iPad has quite a few interesting specs.

1.9.7-inch (25cm) LED-backlit

2.Multi-Touch display with  pixel resolution of 1024×768,

3.16 to 64 gigabytes (GB)  flash memory,

4.1-gigahertz (Ghz) Apple A4processor,

5.Bluetooth 2.1,

6.30-pin dock connector

There are currently two models of the iPad which have been announced. One model of the iPad has 802.11n WiFi. This will be available in March and the second model is a WiFi 3G model and also has Assisted GPS along with it.

The iPad has a development environment and will use software which can be downloaded from the Apple’s App Store. Also, all the applications that can be run on the iPhone will work on the iPad as well. There will be some applications that will come with the iPad and these will be  Safari, Mail, Photos, Video, YouTube, iPod, iTunes Store, App Store, Maps, Notes, Calendar, Contacts, and Spotlight. There will also be the much talked about iBooks application through which one can read books which in turn can be downloaded from the iBookstore.
