It has happened just when users began to be aware of the main idea of a netbook — smartbooks have appeared. They have just emerged and without any difficulties this type of computer has won the hearts of a great deal of people.
That is why today group of IT companies that use the ARM processor have gathered to convert one thing into another (namely, netbooks into smartbooks). The companies are going to use a type of the ARM chip architecture but not Intel’s Atom chip as their major tool. Some companies that produce the ARM chips, for example Qualcomm and Freescale, have become a team to try to battle the netbook name away from Intel.
There will be some sufficient differences between smartbooks and netbooks: firstly, ARM-based smartbooks will be less costly than netbooks; and secondly, smartbooks will have better battery lives that will be able to work much longer, i.e. about eight hours instead of two hours of netbooks. It goes without saying that the prolonged battery life is accompanied by some big alterations. The ARM chips have less computational power if compare with Intel’s Atom, and have the Linux operating system in place of Microsoft’s Windows.
But the final development and sudden emerge of new devices (smartbooks) this year may assist deciding matters. The company of Nvidia considers that this year’s Computex show (go against our long-held views of personal computers) will be new steps and perspective in the matter of novel computing devices advertisement.
What do the specialists say about smartbooks? They consider them to be a great ourtbreak and really it is the true beginning of a new era (Jen-Hsun Huang, the chief executive of Nvidia). Smartbooks are going to be developed soon and after some time you will have an opportunity to have computing devices of various forms and sizes.
