ipad21Apple invited members of the press to an iPad 2 event on Wednesday. The new version of the Apple tablet is said to have one or two cameras, more RAM, faster processor, and larger display. The new features don’t seem to be enticing enough for non-iPad users to buy one in the near future.

The success of the original iPad caught Apple by surprise. It focused on delivering a quality product, which is priced as one of the high-end tablets in the market. The company expected to share around ten million units in a period of one year but the goal was easily reached before the period ended. This time Apple wants to sell at least 60 million iPads starting this March.

When Apple projected an increase from 10 million units to 60 million sold in a year, the company must have something up its sleeves. People are speculating that the company has managed to negotiate for lower manufacturing prices.

Apple could have paid in advance for critical parts, which could take out the risk from the contractors and can result into lower prices. People are guessing that despite the upgrade in its components, Apple can price the iPad at $100 lower than the present model.
