Target To Sell iPad This Fall? Thats The Rumor

John Sukowaty 09/12/2010 1

There are some reports, and rumors, that Target stores will be selling the Apple iPad by October 3rd.  Offering up the iPad at 6 different price points, Target will be helping Apple spread the presence of the hot tablet computer.  We are looking at prices in the range of $499 to $829 for the 64GB model with 3G.

All of this information was sent to digital technology blog, Engadget.  A picture showing a Target, reportedly, PDA with the price points and the location the iPad will be sold.  There is a “Digital Audio” department on the Target sales floor and that is apparently where the iPad will be sold.  The same department as the iPods and Amazon Kindle.

There isn’t an exact reference to Target on the PDA, but it is rumored that a representative close to Target is the one sending the images to the technology blog.  It’s not something that is set in stone, but you should keep an eye out for the iPad in Target around the first week of October.

Presumably going against first reports of the iPad being available to a limited number of stores, including Best Buy, it would appear that the iPad is spreading into the retail outlets faster than originally planned.  Wal-Mart has also shown interest in selling the iPad at it’s stores by the end of 2010.
