T-Mobile recently launched a free voice chat app with the help of which people are able to call their friends using the Facebook application or leave a voice message with just one click. The app is named Bobsled and it is viewed as a Skype killer.
And Skype has every reason to be scared of Bobsled. Imagine what will happen when the half a billion or so Facebook users will use the app instead of other VoIP providers. The app lets the user call people on their Facebook friends list. The receiving parties don’t need to install the app but they are required to have a headset or mic and speakers. It is compatible with both PC and Mac.
T-Mobile stated that they surveyed Facebook users and 88 percent responded that they want a voice chat feature in the social network site. T-Mobile stated that they are launching Bobsled to promote the T-Mobile brand.
The app was test marketed on Facebook with the name Vring and the T-Mobile connection was undisclosed until now. To start using the app, you need to download the plugin from the Facebook Bobsled page. Then restart the browser. Click on the Facebook chat and you’ll see a green phone icon alongside your friends’ names who are available for a chat session.
