A new study by Sophos website, shows that over 95 percent of the users think the changes to Facebook privacy are NOT a good thing. That is 646 out of the 680 that took the survey and the percentage that support the change is small at 3 percent, or about 20 users.
The changes made in March indicate that third-party sites can have access to user information if they choose to visit the site after being signed into Facebook. Now, the amount of sites that are pre-approved by Facebook are few, but the point is that users of Facebook may not realize that because they are signed into Facebook while visiting these sites, they get access to their friends, photos, connections and even user ID.
I am not sure how come Facebook users really take this issue so personally. Don’t users realize they can adjust the privacy settings on their Facebook account to make sure their information is safe? According to the article at PCWorld.com, they do not realize that. Facebook will be pre-approving FEW sites, but the users really still have the final call to whether information is shared or not and that is the main thing.
The poll does show most are not happy with the changes, but of those on the poll, how many know how to change the settings to be more private?
