Smartphones and Tablet PCs to Play an Important Role in the Health Care

Enough said already, we’ve been seeing and hearing tons of things about smartphones. Most of them are linked to the tech world and contribute to the publicity factors of those manufacturers. All the more, smartphone companies aren’t known much for their good deeds to mankind. It’s about profit making and gaining market share these days…

What really surprised us was the fact that some smartphone companies diversified some part of their research on the health care sector. Reports have confirmed that smartphones and tablet PC’s are poised to play a vital role in the health care, as doctors and patients get to extract the maximum out of these devices.

A couple of studies from the Manhattan Research spotted 71% physicians, who consider smartphones to be an important part of their daily work related practices. Whereas, 85% of the respondents said that the internet is vital to their professional life.

It’s easy, the way things work in a ward these days – a random doctor can pull out a complete record sheet of his/her patient, through a tablet or a wireless device. Furthermore, the extracted information can be used by the doctor to get an idea of the patient’s entire histology. The same information can be shared with other doctors on board through wireless networks in a couple of minutes.

In the coming 5 or 6 years, research analysts and medical experts will have forgotten about paperback file covers and tons of heavy duty records. Everything will move to hard drives and Micro SD flash cards. Mr. Hang Wang – Director of the Mobile & Health Research @ Park Associates said that 80% of the people inside and outside the U.S. will be having a smartphone, by 2015.
