Samsung is set to release a 55-inch OLED HDTV later this year. It would have the same smart TV functions found in Samsung’s plasma and LED TV sets. It also has Voice Control, Face Recognition and Motion Control for browsing media and internet via waves of hands and voice. You don’t need a separate console to get these premium features.
The screen is made from a single pane of glass. Each pixel has its own RGB sub-pixels. According to Samsung, it is 1,000 faster than LED sets but consumes less power than regular LCD sets. It has 3D functionality and dual core processor. With features like these, analysts say that you’ll need a well-padded bank account to afford it.
Samsung has 1,400 smart TV apps available, which includes streaming through Hulu, Netflix, and other on-demand services, weather updates, news, games and a lot more. You can also access social networks through the TV set as well as AllShare Play to link your other Samsung devices to the TV.
Samsung hasn’t released the retail price for the 55-inch OLED TV but it would cost a lot. No further details were released by Samsung aside from the vague launch date, which is later this year.
