Back in 2009, PlayStation launched the slim version of the popular console, sales skyrocketed! Well, it appears that Microsoft may just do the same thing, except with the Xbox 360. There are rumors all over the tech world that Microsoft is working on a newer, cheaper and of course much slimmer version of Xbox 360.

The photo leaked on a Chinese message board and a picture of the motherboard was leaked by Kotaku (as shown on the left). The new motherboard combines CPU and GPU together and makes the unit much slimmer.

If the newer version of the Console is cheaper and slimmer, you better be assured that Xbox’s sales will too skyrocket. People all around the world are looking for an affordable gaming system and millions of people still don’t have a console, simply because they are too expensive.

Microsoft has always in my opinion proved that they are leaders in the tech world but at times you need to follow others to drive more consumer and investor interest.  If the rumors are true, this can be really good since Xbox 360’s are quite large and dull looking. The Xbox 360 really needs a re-haul so this can be the greatest invention and update for Microsoft ever since the Xbox was launched.

I will keep you guys updated as we get more information but I have a feeling I know what I want for this Christmas!

What is the hold up on a new system? I love the xBox 360 over my PS3 and Wii because mainly I love to play Hitman but come on this thing is becoming old. On my PlayStation 3 I can surf the web, get instant updates to my games, be constantly connected and logged in to keep track of my gaming info. Wii is the same way, I can easily communicate, surf the web and get game updates. I don’t know how Microsoft still charges $399 for a system this old. At least give an update so it has faster chip, more RAM, better HD Video card, Blu-ray… the basics! Sadly I’m about to buy another xBox 360 and just found out it no longer even comes with a HDMI Cable. What is going on?? I live in a world gone mad! Guess I’m going to buy the Elite for $299 and pay the $30 for the HDMI Cable. With PS3 I did pay $599 but got a Blu-Ray player, AWESOME graphics and so much more for my money…

  2. I would love to see the slim have built in wifi

Jason, apparently you don’t know nothing about the Xbox specs. Do more research and argue your points. Xbox 360 do everything the other systems do of course with the exception of web browsing. And like the comment above, I would love to see the wifi intergrate on the system.
