The CEO of Netflix has been throwing around the idea of offering the Watch Instantly plan alone and separate from other plans in the next coming months. This option would be available in the US soon, as Netflix just added Canada to it’s list of countries were their service is available.
There are more and more companies selling rights to their shows to Netflix and making them available via the “Watch Instantly” option. NBC was the latest to be added to the instant streaming library. Right now, a user can pay the minimum amount, which is about $9, get instant streaming and 1 DVD in the mail at a time.
The instant streaming only option would be a part of its own plan and cost a user about $8 per month. The stream only option is already available in Canada where Netflix just launched. There are some people that say Netflix will not last long, but I would have to say that over 3 million members would likely say otherwise. As long as they can keep the library growing and the users signing up, Netflix will be around for sometime.
You can get Netflix so many different ways now with the Roku box, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PS3 and on your computer. The more they make it available, the more people are going to sign up. The only competition that I see is that from Red Box movie rentals. Those are popping up as fast as Netflix can sign people up.
With the addition of NBC, which has shows like 30 Rock, The Office, Friday Night Lights and Saturday Night Live, you can be sure users will still be signing in to see their favorite shows, now instantly!
