Activision has been taking quite a bit of fire from gamers regarding a number of things lately, like the price of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2′s Stimulus Package. The $15 add-on includes 3 new multi player maps and two updated arena from the original Modern Warfare.
Although many thought the $5 price hike from last year’s add-on was a bit much, that didn’t stop 1 million people from downloading the update in the first 24 hours and over 2.5 million topping out the first week it was available. Activision claims the sales figures have set a new Xbox record, but they did not say which record it broke.
One thing that Activision has said is that the players of the new Call of Duty have spent more than 1.75 billion combined hours of gameplay since the launch in November of last year. There has not been a confirmation of that number as of the news today.
On a side note, Valve has stated that you can play the PC version of the popular shooter game for FREE this weekend. Free game time begins on April 8th and users can preload the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multi player game through Valve’s online distribution service, called Steam.
