Microsoft Reporting Record Revenues

Microsoft reported record revenue for it’s fourth quarter, which also topped that of Apple.  They also reported a substantial growth in profits.  What could have contributed to this jump in money?

The results weren’t a surprise to Microsoft, who announced the release of Office 2010, and they are saying that release was a large factor in the revenue being so high.  Microsoft reported a net income of $4.5 billion on revenue of $16 billion for the fourth quarter.  That is just about a 50% increase from a year ago.

The Microsoft Business Division is outperforming many of the other segments within Microsoft.  With the latest release of their flagship Office product, that division saw revenue of $5.25 billion, which was up from $4.57 billion a year ago.  It’s now doubt that Microsoft has money and makes it like no tomorrow.  With almost every single business on the planet getting use out of the Office Suite, you can bet when they release a new version, units will be sold.

Microsoft saw many more jumps in revenue across all the segments for the fourth quarter.  Products like Windows 7, Microsoft Kinect and the xBox  game Halo:Reach are all coming to market real soon.  Once they all hit the stores, most likely in time for the holiday shopping season, Microsoft should see another spike in revenue.
