This month Microsoft will be rolling out another update for Windows, Office, Internet Explorer, Visual Studio and the >NET Framework. The security fix will be taking care of 64 flaws in the software. This update will break a record for more security bulletins released at one time.
The bulletins will be coming out around the 12th of April, with nine of them being listed as critical, eight of them listed as important and fifteen of them will fix code that allows attackers to remotely access code on your computer. The last Patch Tuesday that had anything close to this many updates was back in October and that update fix 49 issues throughout the Microsoft software network.
There was a “heads up” posted on April 7th, but that did not say exactly what issues were going to be fixed. According to Microsoft, “the fixes will address the Windows MHTML vulnerability and the Server Message Block Browser”. The flaw has been an issue for Microsoft Internet Explorer for some time now and when there is a vast expanding worm abound on the web, this is usually passed on by flaws in those using Internet Explorer. The browser has been critisized many times for it’s security flaws.
This update will hopefully keep attackers from accessing your browser and running scripts in the background while collecting data, some personal, from the users computer. From that point on you will be getting spoof content, virus protection warnings, as well as, losing any and all personal information you have stored on your computer.
Keep an eye out for the fix coming next Tuesday and if you are going to use Internet Explorer, make sure you always run the updates.
