The idea of location based services has been catching the heat since the past 2 years. Every smartphone company these days wants to offer you something that would couple you with your nearby cellphone towers, local resources and people in your immediate area.
Say thanks to these location based apps because some of them can point you in any direction you want. For instance, my busty Samsung S5233 has “Google Pointer” installed in it; its main task is to help me locate anything that I want to.

Foursquare takes location based application to a next step and tries to attract customers through an interface which resembles a video game. The more you’ll use the software to check out new places, you will be getting points for that and it is a good way of competing against friends. The embedded features in Foursquare let your friends know about your whereabouts through your profile. Provided that, you’re supposed to be online at the moment of your friend’s covert operation.

There are tons of food and culinary based applications in the market. Location based software services have been given a twist through a mix of food related apps. Take a look at “Foodspotting”, a fully loaded app that points you towards detailed insight on specific dishes. All you have to do is take a pic of something tasty and share it with others in your community. Soon, there will be other foodspotters in search of the same dish in their nearby restaurants.
