Toys R Us and Best Buy are promoting the iPad 2 this week but don’t expect have the chance to own one anytime soon. There were indeed new stocks delivered to stores on Monday but the units were all sold out as soon as they arrived in the stores.
There were reports that the iPad 2 units sold out an hour after the stores opened. There are branches that do take reservations and expect the shipment to arrive within the week. Toys R Us had a worse luck than Best Buy because it didn’t receive iPad 2units in any of its branches. Its employees don’t know when the next batch of delivery will take place.
Best Buy store policies differ from each other. There are some that don’t take preorders or reservations while some take reservations starting today. But it is safe to say that if you don’t have an iPad today then chances are you need to wait more for the chance to buy one.
Most online shops, including Apple’s Online Store, state that shipping of the iPad 2 will be within ten days at the latest. But this is a long shot. If you really want to buy an iPad 2 then keep a close eye at various retail outlets.
