IBMs mainframes have been famous in every age and today’s news is no different. We’re going to talk about the zEnterprise system that was released by IBM a couple of days ago. Being a mainframe, the zEnterprise stands up to a high level of expectation and superior performance.

How high is the performance? Well, think of zEnterprise’s ability to lend support to 114 blade systems with eight cores. The IBM officials couldn’t emphasize more on this mainframe and told us that it was their most significant mainframe up till and until now.

Take a look at all the nifty hardware specs of the zEnterprise mainframe:

• Model name – zEnterprise 196
• Processor – 5.2 GHz Intel Quad core
• Memory size – 3TB

IBM has always kept security and high performance requirements in mind before the development of any mainframe server. Then on top of all the colossal results, most of the IBM mainframes don’t use that much electricity and still manage to deliver the same level of performance – The zEnterprise is no exception in this case.

An analyst at Forrester Research – Brad Day believes the uniqueness and different aspects of the latest IBM mainframe server. Day also believes that the old line of IBM mainframes witnessed a drop in the revenues by 24% and the company is hoping to raise the bar this time, through the zEnterprise.

From IBM’s side, we had their System Z strategy and Marketing Manager – Karl Freud and he said that the current mainframe is capable of delivering tight management and maximum level of security + flexibility to all the customers who are demanding for a superfast machine.
