Google Sued Because Walking Route Was Not Safest

That is right, you are reading the title right.  There is a new lawsuit against Google from a woman that was hit by a car while travelling on a route mapped out by Google Maps.  Yes, a woman who needed a quick mapped route 2 miles away, took to her Blackberry and got it all figured out on Google Maps.

Needless to say, she was hit by a car, during her travels.  Issue being that she ended up walking on a highway and that is part of the reason she is suing.  Google should have suggested a safer route.  The road was a highway and the womans lawyer claims that Google did not warn her of the dangers of walking on a road way without sidewalks or cars traveling at unsafe speeds.

Too bad for the lawyer, but Google Maps does make a note of “no sidewalks” available when you choose a route near highways.  I am not really sure how they are going to fight this one, but the woman wants a minimum of $100,000 for injuries and emotional suffering from Google.  I am sure that Google lawyers are laughing as we “speak” here today, but you just never know.

When the associated press checked the route given by Google Maps, there were two of them and one was not near the highway, while the other one claimed “sidewalks might be missing”.  Good luck misses, I am sure this one is open and shut!

She gets the “ID 10 T” Award (push it together and you’ll see the answer)

Next, someone will sue companies that print paper maps.
