Facebook Launches Actions Feature

Facebook launched its Actions feature that allows more user updates on the social networking site.
It gives a new channel for its social gaming partners to post updates on users’ Timelines. Actions lets
Facebook’s partners to automatically publish descriptive updates about daily activities. Game publishers
could use this new tool to advertise their games to keep existing players engaged and get new users as
well.

facebook eBay and Spotify have Actions-enabled apps that would automatically relay the users’ activities to
Facebook. The activities would be placed in the users’ Timelines and on the friends’ Ticker sidebar. The
new tool allows the developers and companies to advertise their promos. It would also give them better
insight as to how consumers interact with their services or products. It is better than the Like function.

Users would not be asked for each Action they take. The Actions will be archived on the users’ profiles,
where they can see the various actions they’ve taken in the past.

Facebook worked with over 60 partners with various Actions-enabled apps during the launch of the tool.
Some of the partners include Zynga and Wooga. Starting today, developers can integrate their game or
app with Facebook Actions by applying. The social network would approve it within the coming weeks or
months.
