We already know the capabilities of Facebook; it’s a giant social networking platform that’s spread everywhere. Well guess what, Mark Zuckerberg – Facebook’s CEO has decided to take the company beyond the usual social networking thing. Facebook is planning to convert their 500 million users into online shoppers, through the well-intended intrusion of an online shopping platform. Oh boy, think of all those pangs of jealousy that Walmart, Amazon and eBay will be experiencing.
As of now, managers of Facebook having been holding meetings to give a decent shape to their ideas. Rumor has it that they’re currently negotiating with 20 different big and small retailers to help them to set up shops on its pages that will further enable users to interact with their desired purchases.
Through such tactics, Facebook is hoping to lure in customers for longer intervals. It’s going to be an online social media platform that will never let go of its customers, through the added benefits of shopping. Imagine this thing that you’ve spotted a beautiful LCD TV at one ofFacebook’s CEO; you’ll be spending a lot of time with your online friends to discuss the pros and cons of this TV set. This support is certainly not available at eBay or any other website.
As of right now, Facebook does have a long way to go to present any type of threat to eBay, but this could happen. Much of the traffic driven to e-commerce on Facebook could be determined by the depth and breadth of services offered for both retailers and consumers.

Online currencies and credits are the next big thing. After Second Life and Facebook i recently found a company called MyCube which is about to launch. This is going to be the worlds first social exchange and sounded quite exciting. It will be interesting to see if it live up to its promise though
