Recently, Motorola introduced their Droid X. Verizon is now lucky to be carrying the new smartphone. Since then, some critics now consider the smartphone battle to be a fight between Droid X and the iPhone 4.
First Round: Battle of the Carriers
Its AT&T vs Verizon this time. Both phones are locked to their respective carriers so if you don’t mind staying with them for a couple of years, consider any of the two phones. Just think about the pros and cons of AT&T and Verizon so you’ll know which carrier could provide the better service.
Second Round: The Operating Software
iPhone of course uses the iOS while Droid X is powered by Android 2.1. The iOS is currently known as one of the most intuitive and polished operating software for smartphones. The Android on the other hand is becoming more and more competitive as well. Just remember that there are some apps that would work exclusively on iOS. If these apps are vital, then root for iPhone 4. However, if you are not too picky with the apps, then the Android-based Droid X can be a great option.
Third Round: The Hardware
It seems like the Droid X and the iPhone 4 are evenly matched when it comes to the hardware. Both phones have LED camera flash and video filming capability that can be played in HD TV. But Droid X has higher megapixels than iPhone 4. The latter only has 5 megapixels while the Droid X has 8 megapixels.
Fourth Round: The Cost
You can avail both phones for only $199 each and tied up to their respective carriers for 2 years. However, this is only for the 16 Gb iPhone 4. If you want the 32 GB, then prepare $299 for Apple Inc.’s latest iPhone generation. The Droid X however, already comes with a 16 GB microSD memory card plus the 8 GB internal memory.

I just switched to Verizon Wireless from AT&T to get the Droid X. I had the iPhone 3G. I went in the store and test drove the Droid X and the Droid X wins the battle in my opinion. I got it for $179 USD!
I recently had an iphone and just got the droid x. I think i prefer the iphone even though it has less storage and worse camera, the driod x is pretty large, has frozen 4 times on me in the first 3 days, cant see the screen outside, my text messages dont send correctly. It may be more customizable but the iphone has so many more usefull and exclusive apps. the comparable apps on android feel like stripped down versions of the iphone. The iphone is much smoother. I think android is great but due to lack of smoothness and apps i prefer ios. Verizion is a better network though. It all comes down to personal opinion, they are just so similar.
I have chosen the droid x over iphone cuz after testing both phone droid x seems to b the more affective phone for me. Actually i have not had any freezing issues wit this phone an on a percentage rate iphones freeze allot more than a droid x does. I wouldn’t change it but i wuz up grade my version that’s about it. Also the iphones antenna sucks.
Devon, you can’t compare an iPhone 3G to a droid x, it’s two years older. Of course the droid beats a 3G, but what about a 4?
What good is the iphone when the network its on sucks. I went with the
Droid x and love it.
I actually carried the original motorola droid with the keypad and then upgraded to the droid x because I have had Verizon for 11 years. I started working for a cell phone company that sold all carriers. I sold a couple of iphone 4 phones and even purchased one of my own. My personal opinion: I like the iphone4 better and as far as reception goes I havent had a problem with at&t yet. The droid froze on me plenty of times and even shut off while using the maps. Verizon tried too hard to bite off the iphone in general. The quality in the camera is better although it has less megapixels than the x. The smoothness of the scroll and the keypad is so much better than the x. Plus the X is just way too big!!! The iphone 4 is thin, perfect size, takes awesome pictures, and doesnt freeze up. Who cares if it doesnt have a removable battery…its an iphone!!!
iphone4 sucks
