I have had the Droid X for about two months. I Love it. I would not say it has a great Battery Life. I am lucky to make it 7 hours. I will say it has a good Battery life for its screen size and all it does compared to some of its competitors. One Very handy App is "Advanced Task Killer" that goes in and shuts down functions that you are not using. It realy helps extend useful life. Otherwise I plug it in while at my desk and while driving distances.

Hi Don, congrats on your new smartphone! the battery life is not that terrible so no worries... but if you have a charger, you can happy that puppy on for ever so no worries about battery life as long as u take your charger with you on the trip. And when you have the navigation on you sure can send and receive calls so no worries about missing calls. I've been using my google app navigation and love it! its still in beta but works better than before when I paid $10 per month for the service. good luck and have a safe trip!

First of all, pls let me say that I'm 78 and NOT A TECHY kinda guy. I'll have my first Smart phone delivered to me this WED--8/4-...a Droid X. It will be running 2.2 Froyo. I intend to use it on a lengthy auto trip soon....Let's say I want to use the Navigation feature for several hours in a days drive in unfamiliar territory......Why can't I turn it on, get the navigation app going AND just plug it into the car charger (I got one from Verizon for it).....won't that solve the problem of the battery going down in, let's say during 7 hours of usage time in the car.?? Thanks for your help. DTB P.S. also,,, while I'm using the navigation feature, can I receive and send calls?? and maybe check the weather for an area 6 hours down the road?
