No need to go to another galaxy, just a trip to the Verizon Wireless would already let you get the limited edition Droid R2-D2 phone from Motorola. It is up for sale for only $249 after getting a rebate this Thursday.

The Droid 2 became available last August 11. And this limited edition R2-D2 is just $49 higher than the other model. Of course, the graphics would be all about Star War’s popular Astromech droid. You can find etchings of symbols that are related to R2-D2 at the case of the smartphone. While the typical Droid 2 has a dark case, the R2-D2 has a light-gray case instead.

Of course, both the Droid 2 and the Droid R2-D2 is equipped with Froyo, the operating system from Android 2.2. The slider phones also have QWERTY keyboards too. So save your Thursday if you want to get the limited edition Droid R2-D2 on its first day.

There are no differences when it comes to the specifications of the phone. The only difference is that you can get a custom box with the R2-D2 phone. Verizon said that there is a wired stereo headset and a media dock inspired by Star Wars as well.

You can also find a couple of contents that were already loaded at the Droid 2 R2-D2 limited edition. This is only exclusive to the buyers of the said smartphone. Special ring tones and even new notification sounds. There is a video called Best of R2-D2, a clock widget, and four wallpapers at the same time. And the best thing about the R2-D2 is that you can also get a binoculars application wherein you can see the Battle for Hoth in 360 degree view. If you know the Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back, you will know how important and how huge this battle is in the Galactic Civil War.
