Starting on Mar. 6, AT&T is going to offer the Amazon Kindle 3G e reader in its stores. This shows how AT&T is developing the company since the carrier is no longer the exclusive carrier to devices such as the Apple iPhone.
The Amazon Kindle 3G is expected to sell for $189 and it has some advantages over the iPad and some of the other tablets in that it is easier to read in sunlight, it has a battery life that spans weeks on a single charge and the variety of e books sold at Amazon is very good. So, thanks to the ability to use the Kindle applications on all sorts of products, customers can take their e books with them to most of their electronic devices.
Amazon Kindle’s Vice President, Mike McKenna said that they are very happy to be working with AT&T to sell the Kindle 3G to AT&T customers all over the U.S. He added that users have told them that they love the Kindle 3G due to its portability, long battery life and the advanced paper e-ink display that makes it possible to read in direct sunlight. Users also enjoy thinking up a book they want to read and then to be able to get it downloaded in less than a minute due to AT&T’s wireless capabilities.
AT&T selling the Amazon Kindle 3G shows how they can still make money even if they don’t have halo devices like the iPhone. They believe the market for the Kindles is going to be quite large. Even if you still consider gadgets like the iPad, other tablet computers and other e-readers, AT&T is planning on coming up with even more devices.
