Expos like Computex were the best opportunity for companies to showcase their upcoming products. And they did so, there’s no denying to it. One noticeable company was Asus and because of its upcoming tablets, the company was expected to do a lot more in the future.
However, things for Asus didn’t go as they were either planned or expected, those tablets have been released on irregular pattern and their weird price structure denotes that sooner or later, Asus is going to take the plunge to the gallows.
The company recently announced its intentions to join the tablet race, just like all other rivals. This means that there is a hairline edge that a particular company can have over another company. The plus point lies in perfect timing and release of the tablet. Then there are other factors, such as pricing and availability.
Asus has been planning to release its Eee series tablet in October. By that time, if Apple releases an update for the iPad, Asus will be completely ignored because the iPad has more market share and popularity influence on the buyers. Another point to be noted is that Asus’s tablet has the grey scale display, which is more like a traditional E-reader’s screen.
Now right at this moment, Kindle and Nook are available in the market at much lower prices and if someone wants to go for the tablet/e-reader-ish sort of Asus thingy, then he’ll have to pay $150 extra for that.
To sum it all up, Asus got a little late in catching the tablet+e-reader bus. Immediately after the summer holidays, Windows based tablets and smartphones are going to be released. People will just not get attracted to Asus, they way they did in Taipei and Computex.
