The Mac OS has recently faced security risks, reliability issues, and software problems which have resulted in the company releasing an upgraded version of the Snow Leopard OS. The upgrade, released on Wednesday, solves the issues faced by Mac users.
For many, this upgrade couldn’t have come sooner as Mac operating systems were getting increasingly susceptible to malware attacks. One of the latest being a Trojan, which masqueraded as a video on popular social networks. The malware specifically attacked Snow Leopard and other versions of the Mac OS by running a Java applet that download files that bypass passwords and allow third party access to host system data.
The upgrade not only solves issues faced on both third party apps and on Apple software, but also improves performance and the reliability of certain programs. There are also fixes to faulty Apple software in the previous version. The bumps in iPhoto, Aperture, iCal, Logic Studio, Safari, Airport Extreme and Magic Trackpad have been ironed out. It also offers users of early 2009 OS editions the option of putting their system to sleep through the Apple menu.
Users can download the updated version from the Apple website and install it on their systems using the “software update” link on the Apple dropdown menu. The company recommends that users back up their data before beginning and not interrupt the program while the update is being installed.
The update on the iPhone and iPad OS, iOS 4.2, is expected to release on Friday.
