Apple TV Goes Over the One Million Mark this Week in Sales

Today, Apple put out that they predicted that their brand new Apple TV would surpass a million sales by the end of the week. That is not even counting Christmas and it’s only been three months since the unit was first introduced.

Reports have been showing that the Apple TV, otherwise known as Apple’s “hobby,” has yet to slow down since it came out in September.  Apple was proud to put out in October that the Apple TV set top box has so far sold more than 250,000 and it had only been available for six weeks.
There has been so much vigorous demand for the Apple TV units that some analysts are speculating that the company could even sell a million of them each quarter and the low price of $99 is helping those predictions for sure.

Apple has already made sure the Apple TV is up-to-date with the iOS ecosystem, and when updates were released in November, they included support for AirPlay. Using the AirPlay, owners can stream video from their iDevices like iPhone, iPad or iTouch, as well as to their home TV set.

The Apple TV also brought a cry for studios to only charge 99 cents for renting a TV show instead of making people pay more expensive and permanent options. However, some places balked at that idea, saying Apple wanted them to do something that they couldn’t afford and that 99 cents is too cheap.
Apple TV can also add a feather in its virtual cap for being on Time magazine’s list of 2010 top gadgets, turning up as number seven on the list. Top shot went to another Apple product, the iPad, while the new MacBook Air came in fourth and the iPhone came in sixth.
