Apple Mobile Search Engine Just to Block Google Eyes?

According to an analyst at Piper Jaffray, Apple might roll out it’s own mobile search engine in the next five years.  You know that Google is the default search on all ten million plus iPhone’s right?  Well, Apple believes that Google can use the search information from all of those users to better their own mobile platform.  Actually, that might not be just a paranoid thought process as it sounds like.

It has been known that Google has every single search that was ever used since the website began in 1995.  So, now that they have over 65% of mobile devices using their search, they have control of that much more information.  Do you think that Google would be that low?  Does Google not have it’s own resources for creating unique technology?  I am with you, I think that Apple is just nuts and even if they were worried, why would it take 5 years to create their own search?

Since the Nexus One has arrived and Apple thought it looked so much like the iPhone, they should sue, Google has taken the battle a step further and put a bid in for AdMob.  That being the in application ad server for the iPhone.  With this purchase Google would get the inside look at the Apple App Store and very, very valuable information from Apple.  The deal is still being looked at by regulators, but if it goes through might create quite a stir for Apple as they try to find other ways to block the Google eyes from seeing inside!

Even still, if Apple creates it’s own search engine, that would most likely only be an option to users, not a requirement.  So Google might not have 10,000,000 eyes on content, but maybe only 5 million.

It’s interesting to hear the possibility of Apple doing this but I really don’t think they would be able to stop Google’s stranglehold on the mobile search market. Even if they have success on their own products, Android will overshadow the iPhone marking Apples slice of the pie relatively small.

“We did not enter the search business,” Jobs said in reference to Google. “They entered the phone business. Make no mistake: they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them.”
