Now that Apple has decided to put together a mobile ad network (iAd), the question “Should Apple target Google Ads in the mobile ad war?”. Apple mobile ads are for the iPhone just like Google Adsense ads are for Google’s networks. It makes sense for the maker of the product to offer up an ad solution to advertisers. It keeps costs down and the competition in check.
There are rumors all over the place that because Google has stepped into the mobile phone market that is the reason that Apple came up with iAd mobile advertising. Well I am sure that Apple is not happy about Google taking a shot at Apple’s bread and butter, I still think that Apple should have their own ad network.
More or less, Apple’s though behind the iAd system is that it gives the app developers a chance to create ads for their apps and gives them the tools to create an “app inside an app”, so to speak. As read from CNet.com:
CEO Steve Jobs demonstrated several ads created using iAd, such as an ad for the upcoming Pixar film “Toy Story 3″ that included trailers, games, and other content that could be accessed from a portion of the screen at the bottom of an application.
You can see an example at the CNet site if you haven’t seen one already.
