Access of Facebook and Twitter via Mobiles Have Ascended

Social networks are not a thing of the past, but a thing of the immediate future and the foreseeable future.  More and more people are signing up for a Facebook account or a Twitter account each and every day.  People are staying in touch with their friends via Facebook as well as finding news friends; people are tweeting their hearts out, with their 140-character limit, all throughout the day.

ComScore has conducted a recent study that claims almost 5 million people have accessed their Twitter account via their mobile phone just in the month of January 2010 alone.  As a comparison to last year, the mobile usage shows to have climbed 347 percent!

The same study showed that Facebook had raised 112 percent from last year with this year showing 25 million users accessing their Facebook via cell phones.

Not surprisingly, or at least to me, MySpace actually dropped in mobile usage 7 percent with a little more than 11 million users using their mobile to access their MySpace.

I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next study to see how much social networks have climbed in regards to mobile phone users accessing the networks via their mobile phone.
