Square Enix has officially distributed 5 million copies of the new Final Fantasy XIII. Apparently, more than half of those copies, approximately 3 million, were sent to Australia, Europe and North America. These games consisted of only Xbox 360 and PS3 capable games.
This game was released last year, in December, to Japan gamers, solely for the Playstation 3 where nearly 2 million copies were distributed and the game found itself in the Top 5 in fifth place of top selling games in the world.
This information came from a press release that was released within the past 24 hours and doesn’t contain too many details pertaining to how many Xbox 360 games were distributed and how many PS3 games were distributed and to where. The press release also does not disclose how many copies of Final Fantasy XIII were actually sold since the release in Japan a few months ago.
The press release does state, however, that they have successfully launched and distributed 96 million units for the Final Fantasy game series since the first game was launched and shipped in the year 1987.
4 more million to hit 100 million copies of the entire game series sold…I wonder if they can do it with the new version – Final Fantasy XIII. Only time will tell….
