One of the first android based mobile phones to be manufactured, it was the first Android based smart phone to be branded under the Samsung flagship. Also known as the “Galaxy”, the i7500 was released in June 2009.

This 3.5G based smart phone features a 3.2 inch AMOLED touch screen display, a vibrant color display that is full touch enabled (maximum resolution 320 x 480 pels) The device is also equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera (flash enabled) that allows you to snap photographs instantly, providing a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pels. It has an auto focus feature in it with one-click photography. Measuring 115 x 56 x 11.9 millimeters, it weighs a little over 100 grams – at 114 grams. It comes with a directional pad instead of the usual joystick type menu button.

The Samsung i7500 has upto 8GB of internal storage with microSD slots provided. It supports upto 32 GB of external space. Talking about memory, the phone runs on a 128 MB RAM. Armed with 528MHz processor, it has a digital signal processor rendering a clock rate of 256 MHz

A host of value-adds have been provided. Full web browser support, Google’s web suite has been added – youtube, Google calendar, Google talk etc have been provided as built-in applications. Other than this, this gadget supports GSM.

It offers quad-band GSM(900/1700/2100) – tri-band HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps. It is WiFi enabled and supports Bluetooth. It has built in slots for USB devices and supports USB connectivity.

The i7500 comes with a standard audio jack(3.5 mm) and supports quite a few audio codecs (MP3,WMA, AAC) .It supports video standards as well(H.264/MPEG4/WMV). It provides EDGE/GPRS support at – 850/900/1800 MHz.

Whilst it offers so much, it looks like this mobile phone has been custom-made to provide a full fledged mobile internet experience. Apart from supporting web browsers and java (obviously!!), it enables people to use Google maps features such as Latitude and Street View. A definite pointer towards the emphasis on making it web 2.0 compatible.

The product comes with a 1500mA lithium ion cell, capable of running for 340 hrs without a recharge. The software can be upgraded to suit the latest operating system. You can download the latest Android Operating system and the software used is completely upwards compatible with the operating system. Priced at 332 USD, it is slightly exorbitant for the features offered.
