Things are beginning to get larger and faster in the mobile world. The Dell Streak is one example of where things are starting to be blurred. Is the Streak a large smartphone or a small tablet ? You will probably have to use it yourself to make a decision. Here is more information to discover more about the Dell Streak.

The Dell Streak has what can be called the Cadillac of smartphone displays. It is top notch and extremely large. This smartphone ( it will be called that for now ) is either made for people with large hands or for those with small tables. Whichever it will be used with, it is fast and packed with plenty of Android and Java features. There is no manual keyboard, but with a screen this size, the virtual keyboard is overly sufficient.

Looking at the camera on the Dell Streak, we find it has a five megapixel unit on the back. There is also a secondary camera for video conferencing on the front. The primary camera has dual LED flash, autofocus, face detection and smile detection. The video camera is not high defintion and there is no FM radio for audio.

On the inside is a positive and negative feature. The Dell Streak has the Android operating system, but only in the 1.6 version. Android is up to the 2.2 version as of today. The good news is that some of the Streaks that are not yet released in the United States will get version 2.1, which is a tradeoff. Version 2.1 is also faster than earlier versions. Android has over 100,000 apps for the choosing. It is a quickly advancing operating system that will no doubt be the most popular mobile operating system in the United States soon. Browsing the web is powerful with the wide screen and the Android browser, made by Webkit. Version 2.2 of Android is promised to arrive soon for the Streak.

How about hardware ? The top edge of the Dell Streak has buttons for power and camera. The right side has touch controls for menu, go back, and home screen. The ambient light sensor is on the front and is set up in the menus. It is not an automatic device. The top also holds the volume rocker and a 3.5 millimeter head phone jack.

The memory capacity of the Dell Streak is 16 gigabytes on the internal memory, 512 for RAM and 512 for ROM. It can support a MicroSD card up to 32 gigabytes. The Wi-Fi is good up to the “G” mode. There is no WiMaX on the Streak. Other wireless networks this smartphone can connect to are EDGE, 3G, GPRS and Bluetooth. The wired connection is up to the “2.0″ Micro USB level.

For those upper level smartphones in the world, the Dell Streak is in the exosphere. The device is fast, has the largest display, and has the ability to run one of the best operating systems. It currently is available in Europe and should be coming to AT&T soon for those living in the United States.
