INTRODUCTION:
Sony Ericsson announced the first 8-megapixel phone in June, yet it’s not the first ever in the range but it’s the best thus far. This Cyber-shot model’s key characteristics in that aspect is the Xenon flash, a camera-like design, picture tagging and face recognition. The C905 is a first non-smartphone that has integrated Wi-Fi support; this allows access to internet and DLNA- compatible devices.
IN THE BOX:
*USB cable
*Charger
*USB adapter for M2 card
*Phone
*Stereo headset
*Hand Strap
DESIGN:
The design of the C905 resembles a digital camera at any angle you look at it. Its weight and dimension is same as a pocket camera. C905 has a 2.4 display screen making it larger than other phones in this series. Having an incredible 262k color support expected from Sony Ericsson. All images look brilliant indoors and in the sunlight also. Changing from the boring candy bar the C905 has a slider intended to be operated open as a phone and closed as a camera. The camera can also be used when open. Once the phone is slide out the numerical keypad is revealed, the keypad is easy to use once you open it. On your left side reside the M2 card slot and a slot for the headphone/charger. It also comes with a leveled lens protecting lid, under this we will find the “hidden” Xenon flash also the LED light that is used for focus and shooting any video, lens and the mini mirror.
INTERFACE:
This phone comes equipped with interesting graphic themes these change its menu design also and allows interactive features that appear on the home-screen. The wallpapers are influenced through the accelerometer. This model has only “Slideshow Wallpaper”,it shows the pictures from its camera album.
MESSAGING:
Has a standard MMS also comes with an e-mail client, includes preloaded templates and T9 predictive text which saves time.
CONNECTIVITY:
C905 quad-band GMS supports 3G, includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi making the phone much easier to connect to the world around it. It has excellent Internet Browser; the pages envisage correctly, text shrinks this avoids intense horizontal scrolling, pressing # will activate the panning mode, this zooms out allowing choosing new pages to read.
MULTIMEDIA:
C905 music player resembles a Walkman phone except for fewer extras. The phone offers many sorting options, an equalizer and a pleasing interface. Its loudspeaker is mediocre, but the headphones sound great similar to any Walkman phone. Comes with RDS also has a separate application Track ID this provides information about the song that you listening to, which is a wonderful service. Plays high-quality DivX videos and MP4 it also supports XviD codec.
CAMERA:
The C905`s main feature is its 8-megapixel camera, yet lacking at other aspects we hoping that the new Sony Ericsson model outshines the rest with its camera. The startup and the focusing are comparatively quick a mere 2 seconds, however storing will take you about 5.5 seconds. The software is pretty decent it offers many options making it top of its range in non-touch phones. The photos are of high quality pictures taken out in the daylight are not very good quality, Xenon flash makes night pictures a dream to snap. Video recording is of a fair quality and it’s able to record only QVGA clips. Your pictures on the phone is viewed in its multimedia flash menu, C905 is able to zoom fast also has the ability to tag pictures.
ORGANISER:
C905 organizer functions was not modified, here you have you calendar, the alarm also offers many options, the tasks; timer, notes and the calculator are all fine. We prefer having password protected instead of coded notes. Same as the K850, here also we have the RSS reader, only it’s found in the multimedia menu. The application allows you to view the web sites contents without having to load them. You also have the option to view the latest information from those favorite sites straight on your home screen (same as widgets) this is very good.
PHONEBOOK:
The phonebook did not change much in the past 3 years; there are many fields when adding contacts such as various numbers, birthdays, additional information and addresses, and its well grouped. But it is inconvenient, when you unable to search through second name especially in a 2008 model. On the upside it is great that you can enter digits from your home screen, numbers and names matches appear.
SOFTWARE:
The C905 is another Sony Ericsson that comes equipped picture tagging and GPS to assist in navigation, with its free fully functional Wayfinder and Google Maps. Regrettably its only has 3-month trial version thereafter you will need to purchase a license once it expires.
PERFORMANCE:
The Sony Ericsson is a great camera phone, it has great sound and its quality is excellent in both incoming and outgoing calls. Without a doubt Sony Ericsson boasts a good battery life in this model, claiming it has 16 days of standby and 9 hours of talk time before it is recharged.
CONCLUSION:
The competition is tough to come up with a high-class phone, and a good camera phone doesn’t cut it, the device will have to excel in every aspect. C905 is just marketed as the best camera phone, lacking behind in its recording and video playback. Even if it performs well in that discipline’ its tiny 2.4 display would set it back amongst the rest. Aside from this the C905 excels in having the best Xenon flash of the 8-megapixel device which allows it first of its kind model to take quality photos indoors. It looks good and also offers loads of extras it is also very user friendly. It would be good if it had 3.5mm jack to improve its musical abilities. Even though the C905 is not touch screen or not a smartphone it comes equipped with an excellent browser, that’s user-friendly. Besides the C905’s weak video capabilities you are getting the best 8-megapixel camera phone with a good flash to date.
PROS:
At last an 8-megapixel camera-phone with an outstanding flash.
Has an easy user-friendly interface for the camera
Has great software even though its old-school.
It has outstanding web browser.
CONS:
It has average video capabilities.
The picture quality is not that grand in the daylight.
You are unable to search in the phonebook by a second name.
