The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the latest Android smartphone that runs on the Ice Cream Sandwich. It has impressive specs that highlight the new Google mobile OS version. Unlike the previous Nexus S, which was a rebranded Samsung Galaxy S, the new smartphone is different from the Galaxy S II.
The Galaxy Nexus has a different GPU and chipset but they are not as powerful as the ones found in the Galaxy S II. It has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and a TI OMAP 4460 chipset. Its best feature might be the Super AMOLED screen that has HD resolution, which is the first one on a Samsung handset. It has great contrast ratio as well as good viewing angles.
On the downside, it has no microSD card slot. Instead of an 8MP camera that’s found in the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Nexus features a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also has a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video chats.
The Galaxy Nexus comes with standard Ice Cream Sandwich user interface and launcher. Users would be the first ones to get latest OS updates from Google. This might make the handset attractive to Android purists. It could go against the current flag ships, none of which run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
