Nokia_N900Nokia is looking to the future with its brand new N900 smartphone. This small device comes truly jam-packed with things you would never have found in a mobile computer just a year ago. Take a look a this quick review article and see the future of things to come in the world of mobile devices.

It looks like something you might see from the Apple corporation, but once you look closer, you have all that Apple offers and more. One thing extra is the N900 has a “real” QWERTY keyboard. It even has those nice little directional arrows that your laptop or home computer has. This should be one tip to what you have inside. The N900 comes with a very advance operating system called Maemo 5. Maemo 5 is made by the same people who made the “Windows-killer” called Linux. It is packed with things you will love to use. One feature is the ability to show all your contacts in IM, Facebook and Twitter on one page. It comes with “favorite shortcuts” widgets and applications that you can customize for yourself on the desktop. You have something called eCoach that helps you keep track of all your outdoor activities and sports and is based around GPS. If you want to save some money on your phone calls you can use the Skype application and a wireless hotspot. Nokia and Maemo 5 have designed many desirable things into the operating system including a great web browser that renders web pages the way they are supposed to be seen. Web pages have flash and java applets just like ( again ) your laptop and home computer.

The N900 screen is a resistive touch model that comes in a three and half inch size. It is 800 by 480 pixels in resolution and shows off the cool looking icons from the Maemo 5 system. The screen comes with a keyboard you can punch in directly if you do not feel like using the hardware keyboard. The screen size is bigger than some of its competitors but the same as apple products. The camera is very high quality with a generous five Megapixels of resolution and a Tessar lens. Nokia provides this valuable lens with a cover. The lens uses Carl Zeiss optics and can also support video. Geotagging is automatic, but as reported, you can rename those ugly geotags with something a human can understand.

The phone aspect of the N900 is admirable and has all the regular features you are accustomed to with cellphones. The data networks supported are quad band GSM and tri band WCDMA. T-Mobile is slated to be the carrier of choice for the N900. The memory on the N900 is abundant and it is doubtful you will be able to slow this machine down, even if you are an ardent multi tasker. The applications spring to life even if you have a handful of them open. Try out this super N900 smartphone for yourself and make sure to open as many things as you can. The N900 can take it. Nokia makes it in basic black but I think it should come with some flames to reflect the speed it has. Overall, as Nokia says, it is innovative and will put a smile on your face if you like new gadgets, especially smartphones.
