The HTC Droid Eris represents the second Google Android phone by Verizon Wireless after the Motorola Droid.
Despite the fact that the HTC Droid Eris is mainly an improved version of the HTC Hero, its design should be mentioned as it is really beautiful. It has smooth, rounded corners and black soft-touch finish. It looks very classic especially with its chrome edges.
As far as the size of the handset is concerned, it is 4.45 inches tall by 2.19 inches wide by 0.51 inch thick and weighs 4.23 ounces, so slim enough, but not too much. It feels very comfortable in the hand. It also has such a very useful feature as a proximity sensor, so when you are talking, the screen will turn off so that to avoid any misdials that can be caused by a brush of your cheek.
The Droid Eris features a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touch screen that has a 320×480-pixel resolution. The display is very vibrant and presents the images very sharp and clear. It is easy to read texts on it and the colors of images are very bright and rich.
What makes the Droid Eris single out from other Google Android phones is the fact that instead of three home screens there are seven. All of them can be adjusted according to your wish with versatile shortcuts and widgets.
The phone is also equipped with Bluethooth, voice dialing, Verizon visual voice mail, a calculator, a calendar, a speakerphone an alarm clock, Wi-Fi, PC syncing, USB mass storage, and a voice recorder. In addition, you will get access to a number of Google applications like Google Maps, YouTube, Google Calendar, Google search (with voice), and Google Talk.
The Droid Eris provides numerous options for texting and writing e-mails. Apart from the standard Gmail syncing, the Droid Eris will sync with popular POP3 accounts like Yahoo and Hotmail, and corporate mail, calendar, and contacts with Microsoft Exchange Active Sync.
