I am the type of person that always shops on Black Friday; I have not missed one year in about six at least. The reason for this is that I do not need much sleep and I love to stay up late. It may be hard for most people to get up early and shop but this is not the case for me. So, after I stopped by Best Buy and Target I was very disappointed. While many people at Target were looking for a $30 discount on a Sony LCD TV or a Zhu Zhu Pet hamster I was not. I didn’t find anything that was worth the money at either store. I stopped at Kohls but there was nothing that I wanted here either. Finally, I decided to shop online and headed to Sprint.com since my contract was up for renewal and I thought it would be a good idea to look for a new phone.
I noticed they offered to Samsung Reclaim for just $30 after $50 mail in rebate, I called customer service and asked if I could pick up the phone at a local store and they were nice enough to arrange the pick up. They also waived the activation fee and I extended my contract for another two years. The Reclaim is a phone that is made up of 85% recycled material. The phone is environmentally friendly, it can be 100% disposed of without harming the environment when you replace it with a new one. The phone is about 5 inches tall with a 3.5 inch screen. The large screen is great for browsing and it displays beautiful vivid colors. The keyboard slides up into the candy bar style phone. On the face there is talk and end keys in addition to a mute button. The look is beautiful and it works pretty well.
The talk time is about 4.5 hours without texting or surfing, if you do these things you will get about 2.5 hours talk time. This could be improved because you need to charge the phone a lot. The phone has Sprint “1-Click” service, which allows you to customize what your phone looks like with a dock on the phone. I found that the volume on the phone is sometimes lower and distorted than on other phones like the LG Lotus. It freezes during calls sometimes also. This phone gets a 3/5 because it looks great but if it flawed.
