Samsung Moment is Samsung’s first Android phone to be distributed in the United States. This CDMA phone supports a large OLED display and other features including video capture, auto-focus camera, 3.5 mm audio jack and slide out QWETY keyboard.
Samsung Moment is built on the Google open source Android version 1.5 platform. It has a processor speed of 800 MHZ. It has an internal memory of 253 MB which can be used for storage. Samsung Moment is approved by the Federal Communications Commissions on 21st September 2009 and licensed as A3LSPHM900.
Samsung Moment supports two CDMA modes including CDMA 850 and CDMA 1900. It weight 5.67 oz (161g). It has a dimension of 4.6” x 2.34” x 0.65” (117 x 59 x 16.5 mm). The battery can last up to a maximum of 5.5 talking hours or 330 minutes. The lilon battery is 1440 mAH. The full color display supports a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The display measures 3.2” diagonally across the screen and supports 16.7 million colors (24-bit).
Samsung Moment uses A-GPS technology to determine nearby location. The sprint navigation provides guidance to your destination by using 3D turn by turn directions. It is TTY/TDD compatible for people that suffer from impairment. Samsung Moment receives a M4 (very compatible) rating for the hearing aid compatibility. The polyphonic ringtone produce natural sound for melodies. Samsung Moment has a built in mechanical device that vibrate the phone when it is ringing.
The Bluetooth profiles that are supported includes Headset Profile, Hands-Free Profile, Object Push Profile, Phone Book Access, A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and Audio/Video Remote Control Profile. The micro-USB connector allows you to connect with a USB device such as laptop to transfer files from the phones. The 802.11 g Wi-Fi offers short range wireless high speed data between the phone and Wi-Fi hotspots.
The 3G technology standard for the Samsung Moment is 1xEV-DO rA. The high data speeds make it possible for streaming live video. The standard of the phone browser is webkit-based. The input features include side keys, QWERTY keyboard and finger capacitive touch screen.
The microSD (TransFlash) card type can supports up to 32GB. It initially include a 2GB microSD card. The email client that is supported include Gmail, POP3, IMAP, and Exchange Direct Push. The instant messaging services that are supported include AOL, Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and Google Talk. Users can use their Samsung Moment phone to send photos and videos. The text messaging supports two way entry SMS gateway.
You can assign multiple numbers to a contact in the phone book. The pictures ID allows you to associate a contact with a custom photo. The ringer ID allows you to associate a contact with a unique ringtone so that you know who is calling you. The speaker independent (recognition) voice dialing features lets you speak a name without having to manually enter the number or picking a contact from the phone book.
Samsung Moment has a built in 3.0 megapixel cameral with auto focus and LED flash functionalities. Users will have the ability to play video content from YouTube and SprintTV. It can capture video clips at a CIF resolution of 352 x 288 pixels.
