samsung_finesse Samsung Finesse SCH-r810 is a touch-screen phone that is offered to MetroPCS customers. It is rather costly, i.e. $350 but there is no need to pay for contracts.

As the majority of phones with a touch screen, the Samsung Finesse SCH-r810 has a large touch-screen display which takes almost the entire front surface of the phone. The size of the handset is 4.6 inches long by 2.3 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick. The Finesse’s display is 3.2 inches and supports 262,000 colors. You can use the display for dialing and also texting. There is a QWERTY keyboard as well as virtual keypad, moreover, you are able to use a handwriting recognition tool.

The features of the Finesse involve a phone book for 500 contacts, the stereo Bluetooth, GPS, a full HTML browser, though there is no Wi-Fi. The essentials are the following: a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, notepad, calendar, world clock, alarm, calculator including tip calculator, and converter. The music player is just OK. The music can be loaded with the help of USB cable or a microSD card. The cell phone spots a 2.0-megapixel camera that offers sharp, bright and vivid photos. It is able to shoot pictures in six resolutions as well as four quality settings. What we didn’t like was the absence of the flash. The battery life of the Finesse offers 3.5 hours of talk and 12.5 days of standby.

The good side of the Samsung Finesse is its excellent design, touch screen which is quite easy to navigate. You will be pleased with its features, such as 3G EV-DO, GPS, Bluetooth, and HTML browser. But still some users will be greatly upset by the absence of an accelerometer and Wi-Fi. In general, the Samsung Finesse is a serious mobile phone for people dealing with MetroPCS.

I purchased the Samsung Finesse through Straigh Talk Wireless. I have to admit it feels like I have moved up in the prepaid world and I am no longer constantly pumping $$ into my phone every couple weeks. Just 45 bucks a month and I have unlimited web and minutes. The minus…can’t figure out how to add more widgets or apps.

Good post, but I think the phone and the service is a bit much for me.

But we agree, prepaid rules. I did a bit of research and discovered NET10 was the best for my purposes. I don’t use a lot of minutes — maybe 200 or so a month — and I’m not a mad texter or websurfer either, but 10¢ a minute for calls and 3¢ for texts is crazy good. And no fees per day or other bs.

I got a very nice Samsung phone with a slide-out qwerty keyboard and no one knows it’s prepaid. Costs me a big $30 a month for all my stuff.
