David Rivas, the Vice President of Nokia, announced the enhancements made in Symbian^3
We have heard a lot about the enhanced user experience of Symbian Three, but the dominant market share enjoyed by Symbian make every bit of Symbian-related news worthy enough.
The customizable and more finger friendly home screens are meant to offer quick access to all call features and data at-a-glance.
The 3x improvement in the performance of graphics is expected to be a good surprise for the users.
A quicker UI combined with a Symbian device that operates on something far better than ARM11 is sure to help a lot.
The Cortex A8 device from Nokia is the only N900 running Maema, and not the Symbian
The true multitasking capabilities of Symbian come to the fore with apps that continue to run in the background and do not freeze in their states.
And there’s more! A multitouch screen control on resistive and capacitive touch screen displays with Cover Flow-like album art navigation just exemplifies the overall experience.
It’s all there, and several improvements to usability too. This combined with the fewer nags is sure to raise the Symbian^3 to the heights expected of a modern Smartphone.
We just have to wait for the S^4 in the early devices of 2011 to witness any actual innovation.
The live demo was run on a laptop but it won’t be that long until Nokia flaunts its live OS on a production handset.
