Android Based Smartphone – HTC Trophy

As technology seems to boom with increasing alacrity, the trend now a days seems to be to find a way to attain equanimity between electronic devices. Convergence of media devices seems to be a design goal – most electronic gadget manufacturers seem to focus increasingly on fusing in aspects of various electronic media together into one single device.

Smart phones are examples of this trend. The line of demarcation that differentiates the mobile phone from a device providing computing capabilities is so very narrow in the smart phone. Smart phones offer advanced mobile phone capabilities with PC-like functionality. It has all features of a standard mobile phone and runs on an operating system just like a PC. It fuses in aspects of the PC with those of the phone and brings a hybrid product into the picture.

With Operating systems like Symbian, Windows Mobile providing good platforms to launch smart phone apps, the latest entrant – google seems to have brought open sourcing to the table. The launch of the Android seems to have opened the doors for the development of open source mobile phone operating systems.

HTC the company which collaborated with Google to unveil one of the first Android based smart phones has come up with another gadget – a smartphone making use of Android named  “HTC Trophy”.

The smart phone has not been launched by HTC but it’s specifications have already made it around the internet. So, here is a sneak peek at the latest offering from HTC.

The smart phone “HTC Trophy” is very slim. In fact one of the slimmest models purportedly created amongst smart phones. It is about 11 millimeters thick, very slim for a smart phone. Operating on top the open source Android operating system, this smart phone has the standard TouchFLO 3D user interface, a standard design used in all HTC mobile devices.

The smart phone has a 3 inch touch screen display and is expected to house a 5 megapixel camera. A basic feature in all smart phones is the presence of ports to insert memory cards – as expected this feature will make its way in this model as well. The processor chip ostensibly, is the Qualcomm SM7227 600MHz processor, with a 512 MB ROM/256 MB RAM. 3G connectivity and WiFi are also supported (features expected from a standard smart phone – no surprises there!!)

The specifications that have got leaked around the internet do not pique interest. The features seem to be incorporated in any normal smart phone. Additional features need to be excellent – features that make this new flagship product one to look out for. No official announcements have been made – we don’t have an idea when this product is going to hit the market. Till then, it’s going to be a long wait ahead. Patience is a virtue, hold on to it!!
