An experimental web browsing tool christened as the Google Reader Play has been launched by Google. With this tool, you can browse content that are associated with a Google Reader news feed.
Google Reader is a content aggregator that is web-based and gathers RSS news feeds for offline or online reading.
You don’t even require a Google Reader account for using the Google Reader Play. But if you happen to have an account, you can enjoy a personalized experience with all your RSS preferences.
Here is the Working of the Google Reader Play
A slideshow of popular blog posts, photographs and videos based on the Recommended Items feature of Google Reader is compiled.
Similar to Fast Flip, Google’s visual newsreader, all these items are displayed like a visual slideshow.
Google Reader Play makes use of a filmstrip navigation bar at the screen’s bottom to display the content, unlike FastFlip that displays in a static browser window
As mentioned before, there is no requirement to sign up, but the advantage of doing so is that you are shown shared items from people who you are following via Google Reader. The remaining part of the list will comprise of items that you have starred, shared or liked in Google Reader.
In case you happen to have an account in Google, but don’t make use of Google Reader, your Play stream gets more personalized with items sharing.
This aspect is very similar to StumbleUpon, a social networking service that you can use to find photos, videos and blog posts depending on your personal preferences.
