With E3 2010 fastly approaching in June, the ‘Big Three’ are gearing up to what is expected to be one of the best E3′s in quite some time. E3, which is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is one of the biggest gaming media events in the world, held at the Los Angeles Convenion Center. This is where all the major gaming developers, publishers and companies gather to show off their newest game related content to the media. And on the heels of Nintendo announcing their Netflix streaming service and the launch of their new handheld gaming system, the DSi XL (don’t even ask why), and Sony’s revealing of their motion enhanced controller, the PlayStation Move, Microsoft decided to jump in and offer some news on what they have planned up their sleeves.
On Friday, Microsoft announced that they will have a ‘Pre-E3′ media event solely for the purpose of showing off its motion capturing device, Natal. This event will showcase what Microsoft have been up to in the past year since announcing Natal at last year’s E3. The event will happen on Sunday June 13, and will be dedicated to showing Natal coverage only, meaning for their actual E3 Press Conference, set for Monday June 14, will consist of everything else besides Natal. Rumors are running rapid about a possible Xbox 360 Slim, possible Gears of War 3 revealing and some new unannounced/unexpected games are also set to be shown off for the first time.
Microsoft plans on releasing Natal in time for the Holidays this year, however, a set date nor price have been announced at this time yet. Microsoft believes that Natal will be the answer to the Wii, and now PlayStation’s Move, as they proclaim that Natal is ”experiencing the future of fun.” They also announced that the Xbox 360 will be receiving a 250GB Hard Drive in the Americas and that with the next Xbox Software Update, coming on April 6, each and every Xbox 360 will be capable of having USB storage drives, being able to have up to 32GB on USB Drives (either one 32GB drive, or 2 16Gb drives at Max.).
So who’s ready for E3 2010? I know I cannot wait until June 13 and the whole E3 extravaganza kicks off.
