Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Breaks Sales Records

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is enjoying record breaking sales numbers after it was released this week. Modern Warfare 3 is the latest first-person shooter from Activision. There were reports that Modern Warfare 3 is on its way to break first week sales records, which is a title that belongs to its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops that was released by Activision last year. Modern Warfare 3 has already broken the record for the most pre-order copies.

On launch night, Activision said that 1.5 million gamers have lined up outside 13,000 stores for a chance to buy a copy at midnight. Analysts estimated that sales are more than that number. One even stated that at least 18 million copies would be sold by the start of the calendar year.

Analysts from Extreme Tech computed the amount of electricity used by online gamers and they found out that it would be more than enough to power a nuclear power plant. At present, Black Ops got the record for five0day opening sales revenue at $650 million across the globe. Amazon reported that pre-orders for MW3 is 32 percent more than Black Ops.
