Verizon Wireless announced its plan to sell two new Motorola tablets that run on Android. The tablets would support its high-speed LTE network. 8.2 inch Xyboard and 10.1 inch Xyboard runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb. There’s no word yet from Verizon or Motorola whether an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is available.
Both tablets feature dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space. They also have 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. They are capable to access Verizon Wireless’ Long Term Evolution 4G network, which provides fast mobile broadband speeds. Both Xyboard versions have built-in Google services, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Android browser and Google Talk.
The bigger Xyboard tablet is designed for enterprise users. Its 10.1 inch display is protected by Gorilla Glass. It also has a splash guard and its edges are tapered for better grip. It is thinner and lighter than the Xoom. Its battery can last up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing with over a month of stand-by time.
The 8.2 inch Xyboard is much smaller and lighter than the 10-inch model. Battery life is six hours’ worth of Wi-Fi browsing or three straight days of music playback.
