The new upsurge in the netbook department has just seen the new Toshiba Satellite brought out and, as such, some people might have a hard time describing it as an actual netbook instead of a laptop. The main difference in this netbook compared to other closely priced netbooks is the fact that the Toshiba Satellite sports a very nice 11.5 inch screen. While most netbooks are keeping their screens down to an even 10 inches, the new Satellite is able to get better pixel quality and more pixels per inch. The common netbook has a pixel resolution around 1024 by 600 where the Satellite gives you a very clear 1366 by 768.
By improving on the processor and using a DDR3 memory configuration the Satellite is able to play high quality 1080p movies without requiring you to use an Nvidia Ion-based platform. With the extended battery life of over 7 hours, this is one netbook you should give a try. The only downside to this netbook is the unfortunately simple keyboard and mouse. The keyboard is a full size 12 inch keyboard but appears to be cheaply put together and causes a lot of noise when typing. The mouse is hard to get to work as the buttons seem to be fairly stiff so you should probably give it a go before you decide to pay for it. If you are uncomfortable with the layout and design of the keyboard and mouse, then you should probably try looking at other netbooks. If this doesn’t affect you in any way, then you will find that this Satellite netbook is one that seems to be heading toward the lead position in terms of speed and power. Not all netbooks can say that they rank up there with regular laptops, but the Satellite is surely closing in on that ranking.
