LG Optimus Pad Goes 3D – Review

LG’s first venture into the tablet market comes with the LG Optimus Pad, which is a 8.9 inch tablet powered by Tegra 2 with 3D capabilities. It runs on Android Honeycomb operating system. It has two 5MP cameras that are capable of recording 1080p in 2D mode and 720p in 3D mode. It has 2MP front-facing camera for video calls. The LG Optimus Pad comes with the standard miniHDMI port. It doesn’t have a google-free screen, which means that you’ll need one to experience 3D action. It is also capable of playing 3D over HDMI. If you don’t have a 3D TV, you can use the anaglyph glasses on the tablet.

While Honeycomb, Tegra dual-core and its resolution are standard now for Android tablets, it stands out because of its 3D features. It doesn’t take 3D stills and 3D glasses are sold separately. There are consumers who think that they don’t need 3D on a tablet while others find it just right for the small screen.

Without the 3D features, the LG Optimus Pad is just like any average Android tablet in the market. It has 32GB of internal storage, Tegra 2 chipset and good connectivity options. Its screen is not that impressive. Overall, it has the right mix of portability and performance.
