LG is turning up the heat in the mobile world with their new Optimus series. The LG Optimus One is now on the list of new smartphones offered by LG. This is bringing with it a powerful new operating system. Check out the new LG Optimus One here in this quick article.

First off, the Optimus looks very good, even attractive. The front display is cradled in the frame with a graceful flow to the four control buttons below. The outer edge is covered with a smooth plastic outer frame with a metal trim sandwiched between the front and back. It is barely reminiscent of some earlier models. The edges are rounded so they will not damage a pocket. The details on the Optimus One´s height and thickness are not yet announced.

Some of the best news about this new LG Optimus One is what is inside. The people at LG are really on the ball with the Android operating system. While other big corporations are dragging their feet on offering the latest 2.2 Froyo version, LG is stepping out. The Optimus One is going to be shipped with this fast and powerful Android version. The 2.2 version is not yet on many smartphones. This is a mystery to those who are waiting on it. Motorola is releasing an important phone soon. It will not have version 2.2 but the older 2.1. If you find this weird, you are not alone. Thankfully, LG is keeping up with the mobile world. Android has upwards of 91,000 applications ( apps ) available. This means if you do not yet like it, just wait a bit. Hundreds of new Android apps are being created weekly.

The screen on the LG Optimus One is a mid-size unit. It is just a tad larger than an iPhone at 3.8 inches. The iPhone is 3.5 inches. The display is a touch screen but will not have all of the extravagant features that the “big boys” have. There will likely be “pinch and zoom” as well as an accelerometer. It will likely not have a gyroscope. Overall, the screen is one to please, but not to overwhelm.

The camera is heavy duty and high definition. The exact megapixels this LG smartphone can handle is not yet known. What is known is that it will not be the cheap two or so megapixels of some other midrange phones. The Optimus processor runs at 720 megahertz. This is the upper level of modern smartphones, but certainly not the best of the bunch. It runs the OMAP3630 processor, which is the same as the Motorola Droid 2. Needless to say, the Optimus has no problems with multi tasking or running through the menus at speed.

Where will you be able get one of these LG Optimus One smartphones ? They will be offered in the UK for now. No word yet on when or if they will be coming to the United States or other regions. South Koreans will be getting their own version but with a somewhat different name. LG looks to release these before the end of the year, with tablets included in the bunch. Tablets will also be released with the Optimus name and have the same Android 2.2 Froyo. Look for all of this to happen before the end of the year.

Would really love to see Verizon bring this to the USA sooner rather than later.
