No Real Competition for iPad Until Late 2012

Microsoft isn’t expected to offer its Windows 8 operating system meant for table computers until late in 2012.That timing is what was expected for the Windows 8 operating system since Windows 7 came out in late 2009 and it hadn’t looked possible for them to deliver the successor to that this year.
So, if this in fact is what happens, Microsoft will have only Windows 7 to use for tablets until late in 2012. That hasn’t been good so far and lead to failed gadgets such as the HP Slate. More than likely, by the time Microsoft is ready with Windows 8, Apple will have the iPad 3, and Android will also have more advanced tablets.
Some analysts argue that Microsoft should try to use its mobile Windows Embedded Compact 7 platform for a tablet operating system instead of trying to come up with one to fit them. They should also have a master plan in mind for the Windows 8 operating system. However, that hasn’t been the case in the past, as Microsoft is known for saying things like Windows XP would last for years and they have ignored tablets in the past.
Microsoft’s past failures with putting Windows on tablet computers shows that desktop type interfaces aren’t meant for tables, just desktops. Microsoft is allegedly working to make Windows 8 a more tablet friendly version of windows. It could be planning to add in some of the designs from Windows Phone 7’s great “Metro” interface. They said earlier this year that they will take Windows to ARM processors, which would let Windows work on the same kind of mobile chips that run today’s Android tablets, such as the Nvidia’s Tegra line of mobile chips.
