It looks like the folks over at HP are starting to finally market their heavily sought after tablet pc, the HP Slate. And what better way to begin your marketing campaign then to steal some thunder from your rivals’ product by attacking its weak points.
In this case, HP has begun praising their Slate tablet device because it will be able to run Adobe Flash content, something that is desperately missing from Apple’s iPad (and iPhone for that matter). Of course, HP did not intentionally mention any names in it’s taglines, but you can tell with their choice of words and the inclusion of ‘Flash’ in their quotes, who they are targeting and for what reasons.
HP touted that it’s Slate tablet, which is also running Windows 7, gives users the “complete internet – including Flash” and their tagline which states, “Access the full web and not just a part of it!” HP then reiterated their claims by saying, “With the HP Slate, you’re getting a full Web browsing experience in the palm of your hand. No watered-down internet, no sacrifices.”
To prove their point against Apple, HP has released a brand new 30 second video for the Slate, which highlights the ability of the tablet to run both Flash and Air content from Adobe. The Video can be viewed here: NEW! Web, Flash & Air Device from HP
Adobe also decided to get involved and show off what the Slate can do, that Apple’s iPad cannot. By showing off Flash-web based content on the device, which includes streaming video and playing interactive games, Adobe really wanted to show how the Slate’s ‘full web experience’ is different from Apple’s ‘best web experience’. Hey Steve, did you know 85% of the top 100 sites on the internet right now use Flash? and that 75% of all video on the web is Flash? And you still wont include Flash in the iPhone, or even your iPad? Not saying that Adobe wouldn’t work with you anyways considering your comments towards them about Flash and Adobe.
